Outlook 2007

The following instructions will guide you through the required e-mail setting changes in Outlook 2007.

Open Microsoft Outlook 2007.


At the top of the page click on the 'Tools' menu and then select 'Account Settings...'.

On the 'E-mail' tab, select the account you want to verify and then click the 'Change' button.

Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.


  • Your Name: Your Name (eg. John Smith)
  • e-mail Address: your e-mail 
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.can.rogers.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.can.rogers.com
  • User Name:  Your full e-mail address 
  • Password: Your password  

When you're done, click on the 'More Settings...' button.

Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top of the screen.

Make sure 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is checked and 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected.

Advanced

Click on the 'Advanced' tab.


Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.

Click 'OK', 'Next' and then 'Finish'. You should now be able to send and receive e-mail.

Can't Send Email?

If you can receive email but you can't send email after following the instructions above, you will need to change your outgoing mail (SMTP) port from the default of 25 to 1025.

To do this:

From the 'Edit' menu click 'Preferences...' From the window on the left, select 'Mail Servers'

Now change the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server' from 'mail.can.rogers.com' to 'mail.can.rogers.com:1025'.
