Outlook 2002-2003

The following instructions will guide you through the required e-mail setting changes in Outlook 2002-2003.

Open Outlook.

At the top of the page click on the 'Tools' menu and then select 'E-mail Accounts...'

Select 'View or change Existing E-mail accounts' and click 'Next'

Select the e-mail account and click the 'Change...' button

Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.

  • Your Name: Your full name
  • e-mail Address: Your e-mail address
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.can.rogers.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.can.rogers.com
  • User Name: Your full e-mail address
  • Password: Enter your e-mail password 

When you're done, click on the 'More Settings...' button.

Click the 'Outgoing Server' tab at the top of the screen

Make sure 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is checked and 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' is selected.

Click on the 'Advanced' tab at the top.

Make sure that your settings look like the settings shown in this screenshot.

Click 'OK', 'Next' and then 'Finish'. You should now be able to send and receive e-mail


Can't Send Email?

If you can receive email but you can't send email after following the instructions above, you will need to change your outgoing mail (SMTP) port from the default of 25 to 1025.

To do this:

Click on 'Tools' then 'E-mail Accounts...' then 'View or change Existing e-mail accounts'. Click the 'Next' button, highlight the account you wish to change and click the 'Change' button. Then click 'More Settings...' followed by the 'Advanced' tab.

Now, under Server Port Numbers change 'Outgoing server (SMTP)' from 25 to 1025.
